"Our beloved channel islands"

01 Apr 2010
Liz and I, together with Derek and Jenny Gibbs have just had a great weekend in Guernsey with Church on the Rock (COTR). We enjoyed their wonderful hospitality as we were entertained by various elders and wives throughout our time there. We also spoke at a preaching group, a broader leaders gathering on the Saturday evening, where Derek, Jenny and Liz all spoke about different aspects of New Community life and on the Sunday morning where I spoke on Intimidation! The church has been through a somewhat difficult time with a number of people leaving in autumn last year, but I really felt that they had turned a corner and are looking to the future with anticipation and faith.

New people have joined recently and it's amazing how many nationalities are finding their way to become part of the church.

I am hoping that COTR and NCC will find ways to partner together in the coming year and that as a church we will be able to help our friends in Guernsey feel that they are not isolated because they are an "island", but rather they will know that they are a key part of the wider international scene.

It was the Churchill quote "our beloved Channel Islands"which drew my attention, and I was glad to find out that this was about us! We are indeed looking forward to what adventures God might have in store for us as we partner together. '
