We Are We Here? What We Believe The Team International Links

Welcome

New Community Church began in 1976 when a group of young people from Sidcup came into a new experience of Jesus.

They were transformed by this encounter, ruined with a vision for the local church that it shouldn’t be dull and lifeless but a genuinely exciting and relevant community of people led by Christ.

Today, the church is an increasingly diverse community of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds from across S.E. London. We are a church committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing great praise and Glory to God the Father.

Why are we here?

Our Values: Love God, love people and enjoy His grace

Our Mission: Make Jesus known to our local community and to the nations

A Church of Word and Spirit

We are committed to the Word of God which is our ultimate authority for life and to the Holy Spirit, His presence and His gifts.

A Community Church

We are committed to being a church that affects the community around us with the gospel and in caring for those in need. We also emphasise commitment to one another, from meeting in each other’s homes to mutual care and support.

A Resource Church

We are committed as part of the Newfrontiers family of churches to equipping, training and sending people to be involved in starting and supporting other churches, both in this nation and around the world.

What we believe...

We embrace the Evangelical Alliance statement of Faith:We believe in:

The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God — fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

The dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.

The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ — born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.

The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.

The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.

The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.

The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers — given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.

The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

    International Links...

New Community is part of the Newfrontiers family of churches, with links into many nations in the continents of Asia, Australasia, Africa, Europe (East and West) and North America.

We can achieve more together than we can on our own and we love the friendships God has given us around the world. Working together with Newfrontiers seeks to establish strong churches where believers are able to work out God's purposes for their lives and make a difference in society.

New Community is actively involved with churches in many of these nations, but specifically in Romania, South Africa and Zimbabwe. We have sent teams to support these churches in various ways including social action projects amongst the poor.
